Jen Brown grew up in Gardner, Kansas. She earned her bachelor's degree in Linguistics (with a German minor) from the University of Iowa, as well as her master's in Linguistics with a TESL emphasis.

In addition to serving as the Department Testing Coordinator, Jen teaches in the Iowa Intensive English Program and Teaching Assistant Preparation in English program. Jen loves everything to do with words, so when she isn’t teaching English, she writes fiction, acts in community theatre productions, and reads lots and lots of books.
